James and Cathy Donnelly Honored with the 2020 NSU President’s Award for Excellence in Community Service

Plantation, FL – March 02, 2020 – Castle Group’s Founder & CEO James Donnelly and his wife, Cathy Donnelly, Director of Community Relations, were honored with the NSU 2020 President’s Award for Excellence in Community Service. The award was presented by NSU President, Dr. George L. Hanbury II, on Saturday, February 29th at the 2020 Celebration of Excellence, which took place in the Rick Case Arena at Nova Southeastern University.

This award comes as a result of James and Cathy’s continuous dedication to South Florida’s community. Through CastleCares®, Castle Group’s philanthropic arm, the Donnellys support numerous charitable organizations across the state. In addition, James co-chaired the Broward Business Council on Homelessness in 2019 and served as chair of the Broward Workshop from 2016 to 2018.  James is currently chair of the Community Foundation of Broward.  The Donnellys are active members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, the United Way Tocqueville Society, and the Broward Performing Arts Foundation.

Cathy was appointed in 2015 to the board of the Children’s Services Council of Broward County by Governor Rick Scott and is currently the sitting Chair. In 2018 she was inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Hall of Fame for the creation of the K.I.S.S. Program which has served over 4.2 million healthy snacks and hot meals since 2011. She sits on the Cultural Affairs Committee of the Broward Workshop and the Broward County Cultural Arts Division – Public Art & Design committee.

James’ involvement with NSU extends back to the establishment of the property management program. In 2014, James was inducted into the Entrepreneur and Business Hall of Fame at NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship. James has also been recognized for his business leadership abilities as a recipient of both the Sun Sentinel’s Excalibur Business Leader of the Year Award and the 2019 Terry Stiles South Florida Leadership Award.
