Increased Support Taking Program to the Next Level

FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla.Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is home to Florida’s only property management and real estate bachelor’s degree program.  Thanks to an additional investment from a valued member of the NSU family, the program is positioned for new heights.

James Donnelly, a member of NSU’s Board of Trustees, is generously contributing additional resources to expand the program and provide scholarships to eligible students.

“My vision is to ensure this is the preeminent property management program in the United States,” said Donnelly, who is also the Founder and Chairman of the Castle Group, one of Florida’s largest property management organizations.  “There is a huge need for well-prepared talent in the property management industry and NSU is on the forefront in preparing students for a great career.”

Donnelly was instrumental in creating NSU’s Property Management and Real Estate bachelor’s degree program in the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship. With his latest gift, which brings Donnelly’s total support of NSU and its property management program to seven figures, the program will now be called the James Donnelly Property Management and Real Estate Program.

“It is such an honor and privilege for me to give back to the industry that was so good to me and do whatever I can to support these terrific NSU students,” said Donnelly. “It’s a very accelerated career growth – I couldn’t be more excited about where the industry is, where it’s going – it needs what we’re creating at NSU.”

Donnelly said that salaries in the property management industry have increased dramatically in the last few years, making property management a very attractive career.

“I definitely knew it was a career path you could take, but I didn’t understand how much of an opportunity it could be,” said Ryan Mangano, a freshman at NSU. “If you’re looking for a program – if this is your priority and you want to major in it – for property management and real estate, you can’t find a better place than NSU.”

Just look around the landscape in South Florida – and across the nation – and you can quickly see the job market for highly skilled property managers is exploding.  Some have even joked that the official bird of South Florida should be the “construction crane.”  Between new and existing construction, the need for property managers has never been greater.

“Remember, property management jobs cannot be moved offshore – we’re on the property, we’re in the building, we’re in the community,” said Donnelly. “Every building and community will be here for decades, if not centuries, and they all must be managed, talk about job security!”
