3 Tips for Departing Snowbirds
March 3, 2022

Getting Ready to Leave Your Community
Snowbird season is coming to a close, and as you get ready for your departure back home, it’s important to properly prepare your seasonal home for your absence. Castle Group has all the answers to any questions you may have, and we’ve listed a few tips to help you get started:
1. KEEP IN TOUCH
Prior to your departure, make sure all of your contacts are up-to-date. Collect all home watch and emergency numbers and vice versa – make sure that management and any vendors that may service your home in your absence also have your current email addresses and phone numbers.
2. KEEP YOUR RECORDS
Have a copy of your home and/or condominium insurance policies for any damages that may occur during a hurricane, leak, or any other accident. Contact your agent to ensure there are no coverage updates to be made in case of any legislation changes. It’s important to have a solid understanding of who is responsible for what when it comes to property damage to your residence.
3. KEEP IT SAFE
Before you turn that lock, make sure you’ve done everything you can to leave a safe home behind. Remove anything from your lanais, porches, yards, and patios – garden figurines, chairs, tables, and any object that could potentially fly away. Check that your hurricane shutters are working properly, with all the bolts in place, and make sure to get a copy of your association’s hurricane plan, too.
At Castle Group, we operate with a proactive approach, not a reactive one – meaning the majority of these items would either be taken care of or made available to you already, thanks to your dedicated on-site staff and hands-on Property Manager.
